Born Judith Nyambura Mwangi in 30th April 1986 in
Nakuru, Kenya, Avril studied in Kenya and Uganda for her elementary school, O and A levels. She holds a Bachelors
Degree in Design from the University of Nairobi’s School of Art and Design. Her
claim
to fame was a signing with East Africa’s power house Ogopa Deejays
recording studios and released a debut single entitled ‘Mama’ later
followed by hit songs Kitu Kimoja and Hakuna Yule. Avril has
collaborated on a number of musical projects with artists in Kenya and
East Africa as well. These projects have all been hit collaborations:
Chokoza with Marya, Leo Remix with A.Y from Tanzania, Mtaani Dot Com
with Mustafa, Changes with LAM from Sudan, Najivunia with Trapee….just
to mention but a few.
Avril also ventured into the film industry late 2011 when she made a
cameo on MTV’s Shuga: Love Sex Money acting as Miss Behave. She further
evolved in the film industry as her acting
skills
grew and got to work on a number of other projects: Mali (NTV), Noose
of Gold Sn6 (DSTV’s MNET), Sumu La Penzi (DSTV’s Africa Magic Swahili). SEE MORE :
